President Michel Aoun defended the economy under his leadership in a televised interview to mark the second anniversary of his election to the office, saying that "the economy can't be restored in a short period".Concerning the former, McKinsey presented a five-year plan to diversify and modernize the Lebanese economy. Among the other topics Aoun touched on during the interview was Lebanon's trash crisis one of the key points in the government's policy statement after the government was formed in 2016 .As Aoun's term enters its third year, many of the key points he has promised remain unfulfilled, such as solutions to the water, garbage and electricity crises; to Lebanon's soaring public debt; and to the flailing economy.
